Quiche recipe

Sometimes I make things which turn out absolutely FANTASTIC - this is one. I took the recipe from here:
http://www.nanday.com/cookbook/12.php
BUT - I CHANGED IT

I used olive oil to brush the crust.

Cauliflower Quiche

Potato crust:
1 1/2 to 2 cups packed, grated raw potato
1/2 tsp salt
1  egg, beaten (optional)
1/4 cup minced onion

Filling:
1 cup chopped onion
3  medium clove garlic, crushed
3 Tblsp butter or margarine

1  medium cauliflower, cut into small florets
   dash thyme
1/2 tsp basil
1/2 tsp salt
   black pepper

3  eggs
1/3 cup milk

1 cup (heaping) grated guyerre

   paprika

Use 1 9-inch pie pan

Potato Crust: (or, you may instead use a traditional unbaked pie crust)
Squeeze liquid out of the grated potato. Mix potato with remaining crust ingredients. Pat mixture into well-oiled 9-inch pie pan, building up the sides of the crust. Bake for 30 minutes at 400°F, then brush the crust with a little oil to crispen it. Bake an additional 10 to 15 minutes.

Saute onions and garlic in butter for 5 minutes. Add cauliflower, herbs, salt and pepper to taste, and cook, covered, 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Beat the eggs and milk together, and combine with the cheese and the cauliflower mixture. Pour into the crust and dust with paprika. Bake at 375°F for 35 to 40 minutes, until set.

Obama bowed

 WTF???!!!!

B1 Fell From a Tree

And did a great job messing up his finger. He didn't hit his head when he fell (according to him) yet they called an ambulance to check his finger. I saw his finger - there's some blood - but it doesn't warrant an ambulance.

I love the Polaniaot that work in his gan. And for those who don't understand that statement - the Jewish mothers in his day care.

Kid Number 3

No - I'm not pregnant, but we did go to Professor Sivan to find out what the risk is if I do decide to go there.

So, he gave me this huge list of very expensive blood tests and warned me that the kupat cholim (medical insurance) would probably give me a hard time for it. He wants to know why both boys were IUGR.

The good news:
Having a 3rd won't be life threatening

The bad news:
It may mean 2 months of bed rest in the hospital

Jury is still out. The economic costs, the emotional costs, the cost of sleep - recovery, professional costs. It's not an easy decision to go for another one when you have two gorgeous happy and healthy boys.

I miss home

One very nice thing about growing up in OC is that none of my friends from home is a bleeding heart, knows nothing about the situation or Hamas, but takes their side anyhow Liberal. The closest I have is Matt who is simply anti-political completely. I have friends who are getting hate mail from people they used to know, and others who are being shunned completely for living here. All of my friends are sending me warm wishes and hoping that I am ok. The situation sucks, but it's nice to know that people are thinking about me and care.

Funnily enough, the one person I know against this whole thing (or actually, doesn't know how she feels because she just can't handle the idea of anyone innocent being killed) is a GF who used to live in Tel Aviv. She is a bleeding heart liberal though, and we typically never talk politics.

The kids are good. I have no work and am starting to get seriously stressed. The Hubby is fine. School is good. That's it really.

Search

How do I search previous posts of mine? I know way back in the day I posted my Meyers Briggs results and I want to find that post.

Apparently Obama aides leaked the conversation between Omaba and Bush. What a flipping asswipe. That's like knowing you're about to take over a company, and doing what you can to make the old leader look bad. The thing is - Obama is the one who looks like an unprofessional shit.

**annoyed**

wha???

http://www.forbes.com/facesinthenews/2008/11/04/seinfeld-lappine-cookbook-face-markets-cx_mlm_1104autofacescan03.html?partner=faces_newsletter

In federal court papers filed last week, author Missy Chase Lapine said her 7-year-old daughter was upset after late last year, Seinfeld joked on David Letterman's Late Show, which airs onCBS (nyse: CBS - news people ), that people with three names--James Earl Ray and Mark David Chapman, for instance--turned out to be assassins. Ray was the confessed assassin of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and Chapman murdered Beatles' guitarist John Lennon.

Lapine said she "never felt so frightened and vulnerable" as when her daughter came home from school "and asked, 'Mom, what is an assassin?'"

Can someone tell me why this idiot let her SEVEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER stay up late and watch David Letterman in the first place?

B2

So this morning B2 insists on picking his own clothes for gan. What does he wear? His spiderman shirt, sweatpants (I insisted), tigger pajamas on top of the shirt (the kind with legs attached - he had the legs flapping in the back) and his brothers favorite teddy bear stuffed in his shirt - because the teddy was his baby.

B2 also has to have 2 bowls of cereal for breakfast. One bowl of cheerios with milk, and another of corn flakes without milk.

B1 will only eat corn flakes with milk, but otherwise he's easy.

Next step

As The Hubby has been on my case for a new child, I'm on his case for a bigger house. Today we called an estate agent just to see what our options were. Did it make sense to sell our house, or build up a second floor from wood...

It doesn't make sense to build - but we don't have enough money to buy a new place.

I guess we'll be staying put for a bit longer.

Also - I called up my favorite furniture shop to do some sort of group promotion together on Tchochkes.com and she thought it was a great idea. I also offered my services to write her English site when she needs that.

**Sigh** this house was good sized with a big lot. It wasn't as well laid out as I would have liked, but it was a shell - which means I could put whatever I wanted into it. I could pick everything. That has a lot of appeal to me.

Ok - it was too expensive. They want the same price for an empty shell that we could get for our house now. Course this is a bigger house on a bigger lot on a new street. We would have to put in about 400k to finish the place off - that's the problem. I have a window guy. I have a tile guy. The plumbing and electricity has been finished. I'm not totally positive we would need to hire a 'finishing kablan' (finishing contracter)

I could blog about the work - that would give plenty of content for tchochkes. I wonder if I could get the whole thing done as a TV show and get the difference paid for that way...
